That just a little more
Isn’t what you want
You’ll know it then
Where you stand
For the measure of a man
Is in what he’s given
In how many he’s forgiven
When you hit your knees
And sit down to pray
Do you wonder sometimes?
If your heart’s in the right place
And we all know the delusion
Of the Judgement day
Even if it doesn’t come to pass
Can you lie down on bed at night?
And know that you stood up
For all you believed was right
Or, if you sided with the wrongs
Do you dare to look inside?
And shirk back in fright
You see a caricature of faith
Grin back at you in its death
Do you rise from your bed?
And hit on your knees again
What do you say?
What do you pray?
Such a moment of grace
When you don’t count you wins;
And toss all your losses
In the waste bin of past
Stand tall on your feet
And dare to dream
Once again
You connect to the one
And have the grace to come undone
Being human
You carry the burden of imaginary sins
But you carry the divinity
To reach that place within
That surplus conscience
That can dare to stand the test of time
In your grace to come undone
Live one moment after another
Not in hope of pleasure and fame
And give what you can
You’ll be human again
